Karnataka Lokayukta seizes Rs 45 crore: casino coins, gold and vehicles unearthed from BBMP, BESCOM officials | Bangalore News

The Karnataka Lokayukta police on Thursday conducted extensive search operations across the state, uncovering disproportionate assets worth Rs 45 crore. The searches were part of investigations into 11 cases involving government officers from various districts. The raids, which took place at over 56 locations, reportedly revealed substantial amounts of illegal wealth amassed by these officers.

Lokayukta sleuths raided 11 places linked to Basavaraj Magi, a BBMP revenue officer of Mahadevapura division, and unearthed 586 casino coins, cash, agricultural land, and 15 sites, among other assets, amounting to Rs 3.3 crore.

Mahadev Bannur, AEE, Panchayati Raj Engineer Division, Belagavi, was found to have amassed assets totalling Rs 97 lakh. This includes Rs 10,05,00,00 in immovable assets, Rs 1,84,122 in cash, Rs 20,33,526 in jewellery and Rs 7,50,000 in vehicles.

D H Umesh, Executive Engineer (E), KPTCL, Chikkamagaluru, had disproportionate assets valued at Rs 5.3 crore. His assets include Rs 48,300,000 in immovable properties, Rs 4,000,000 in jewels, Rs 1,500,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 5,500,000.

M S Prabhakar, AEE (E), BESCOM Vigilance Police Station, Davanagere, was discovered with assets worth Rs 2 crore. This includes Rs 15,797,391 in immovable properties, Rs 3,00,000 in cash, Rs 3,000,000 in ornaments, Rs 50,000 in vehicles, and other assets valued at Rs 1,000,000.

Shekhar Gowda, Project Director, Nirmithi Kendra, Belagavi, had assets totalling Rs 7.8 crore. This includes Rs 67,318,999 in immovable properties, Rs 1,65,000 in cash, Rs 1,690,000 in jewellery, Rs 8,35,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 8,817,645.

M Ravindra, Chief Engineer (Rtd), Public Works Department, was found to have assets valued at Rs 5.7 crore. His assets include Rs 39,255,000 in immovable properties, Rs 37,500 in cash, Rs 8,300,000 in jewellery, Rs 10,000,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 5,000,000.

K G Jagadeesh, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, was found to have assets worth Rs 5.7 crore. This includes Rs 50,180,000 in immovable properties, Rs 2,400 in cash, Rs 3,11,302 in ornaments, Rs 1,800,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 3,50,000.

Shivaraju S, Executive Engineer (Rtd), Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Division, Mandya, had assets valued at Rs 5 crore. This includes Rs 29,104,500 in immovable properties, Rs 6,00,000 in cash, Rs 8,00,000 in jewellery, Rs 9,000,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 20,648,500.

Vijayanna, Tahashildar, Harohalli Taluk, Ramanagara, is said to have assets amounting to Rs 2.4 crore. This includes Rs 25,398,000 in immovable properties, Rs 2,42,000 in cash, Rs 2,257,000 in jewellery, Rs 4,315,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 3,400,000.

Mahesh K, Superintendent Engineer, Kabini and Varuna Nala Circle, Mysuru, had assets valued at Rs 3.7 crore. His assets include Rs 39,300,000 in immovable properties, Rs 2,280,705 in ornaments, Rs 400,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 7,600,000.

N M Jagadeesh, Grade-1 Secretary, Dasanapura Grama Panchayath, Bengaluru, was found to have assets totalling Rs 3.2 crore. This includes Rs 20,468,000 in immovable properties, Rs 2,800,000 in cash, Rs 12,170,000 in jewellery, Rs 3,390,000 in vehicles, and other assets worth Rs 1,000,000.

A Lokayukta official said, “This unprecedented crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts of the Karnataka Lokayukta to combat corruption and ensure accountability within the government. The investigation is ongoing, with further evaluations of assets, including bank lockers and household items, expected to uncover more undisclosed wealth.”
