Gujarat confidential: Fight For Claim | Ahmedabad News

A day after the partial roll back of fee hike for MBBS courses in all the 13 colleges under the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS), the students’ organisations — National Student Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) — claimed it happened due to their efforts. While Samarth Bhatt, state secretary at ABVP, claimed that the Gujarat government withdrew the fee hike following the organisation’s strong protests, Narendra Solanki, state president at NSUI, gave the credit to its agitating members as well as other students and their parents. Further, the NSUI on Wednesday raised another demand that 50 per cent of the seats at the 13 GMERS-run colleges be available for government college fees and the remaining ones be up for nominal fees — affordable for students from middle-class families and the poor.
