2 children among 9 killed in road accident in Rajasthan | Jaipur News

Nine people including two children and six women died in a road accident in Karauli district on Monday evening. The collision between a Bolero vehicle and a truck also left four people injured. The accident took place near Dundapura turn on the Karauli-Mandarayal road.

According to police, 13 people were returning home after visiting Keola Devi temple in Karauli district in the Bolero bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration when it collided with a truck.

“A speeding vehicle and a truck collided head-on near the Dundapura turn on the Karauli-Mandarayal road. The front part of the Bolero vehicle was completely damaged in the accident. People from the vicinity reached the spot after hearing the sound of the collision and informed the police and ambulance. According to preliminary information, the accident may have taken place due to the Bolero’s driver losing control over the vehicle or due to overtaking. Investigation is underway and more information will be shared later,” said Karauli Superintendent of Police Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay to The Indian Express,

He further said that this is the first time that such an accident had occurred in the area. Even the spot was not marked as blind spot by the traffic police, he said.

While the truck suffered some damages, its driver is safe and has been detained. Some of deceased were from Sheopur district in Madhya Pradesh, while others hailed from Khirkan village in Mandrayal of Karauli district in Rajasthan.

A woman who suffered serious injuries has been referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

As soon as the information about the accident was received, Collector Neelabh Saxena reached the accident site supervised the relief and rescue operation.
